When Shutter Shades Ruled the World
Depending on what age generation you belong to, you may be reading this for different reasons. You either have no clue what shutter shades are, you’ve seen your kids wearing them or seen a few people on TV and wonder what the fuss is, or you’re wearing a pair right now. To explain, shutter shades are basically plastic frames with slants running across the lenses. There is no glass in them, so basically the frames are pseudo-shutters for your eyes.
The shades were originally manufactured in the 1980’s, but a famous rapper has brought them back. If you’d like to see an example of shutter shades, Look at the music video “Stronger” is ideal. So why buy shades that basically obstruct your vision and have no UV protection? Well, in more ways than one, these shades break the mold. The number of different varieties, colors, and patterns is constantly changing.
Shutter shades are one of those accessories which the younger generation has picked up. We, speaking on behalf of the rest of Generation X, Y, and Z, love anything which we can match to our ever-changing personalities and tastes. With so many shutter shades available a person could hypothetically always have a pair to match their outfit. That revelation comes as no surprise when you also consider that shutter shades were never really intended for sunlight. Their popularity, lack of UV protection, and limitless fashion potential make them most suitable for the club scene. Leave it to the young generation to bring back the craziest things…even wearing their sunglasses at night.
